International Student Leadership Conference
Each year, Operation Smile hosts its International Student Leadership Conference (ISLC) at a different university around the world. This annual conference helps students develop and strengthen their leadership skills and character, provides training on how to help those in developing countries, as well as exposes them to different cultures. Attendees will hear inspiring speakers share their insights on the topics of leadership, overcoming obstacles and what it means to make a difference; they’ll also meet like-minded people committed to making a difference in the lives of children with cleft lip and cleft palate.
Mission Training Workshop
Selected high school students are trained as health care educators to accompany our surgical teams on international medical missions. During mission training, professionals train students in burn care, oral rehydration therapy, dental hygiene, hand-washing, nutrition, and hands-only CPR. This workshop gives attendees the confidence to teach this important information with patients, their families and others near their assigned mission site.
Operation Smile UAE hopes to send 3 students and an adult chaperone to attend the international student leadership conference and mission training workshop which will then qualify the team to participate on an Operation Smile International Medical Mission as Healthcare Educators. Operation Smile UAE would like to provide an equal opportunity to all of our dedicated student volunteers to participate in such a life changing and noble experience regardless of their financial situation and are therefore looking to crowdfund an Operation Smile International Student Programs Scholarship Fund in order to offset the cost of the ISLC and MTW fees.
Costs: MTW - Students & Chaperones $325 USD
ISLC - Students $1,000 USD
- Chaperones $750 USD
